CREATE A CITRUS FRESH TABLESCAPE

Citrus is so wonderful! The oranges and Iceland poppies are looking great in the garden right now and I was inspired to create a citrus fresh tablescape that captures the happy and bright citrus fresh vibes. I hope 2021 is just as fresh and wonderful.

Tablescapes are my favorite way to update our home and bring the beautiful outdoors inside. Gathering and sharing a meal is a wonderful way to grow relationships and enjoy simple moments at home. The art of being hospitable is often forgotten. Being hospitable is not about the decor on your table or how your home looks. It is about the mindset of being welcoming to others and putting them first. Having a pretty tablescape just adds to the joy of sharing with others!

In Arizona, December is when all the oranges, lemons, and citrus fruit is ready for harvesting. We have a few citrus trees and I really wanted to incorporate some of the citrus vibes into this tablescape. There were a few Iceland poppies blooming and it is the perfect complement to the citrus! I love it when I can use plants and botanicals from the garden to create interesting tablescapes for our family to enjoy.

Since I only had four Iceland poppies and I was trying to think of the best way to incoporate it into the tablescape. Champagne glasses work so well as a holder for Iceland poppies in addition to champagne. It felt great to have a wonderful way to display the poppies while still keeping with the new year theme!

Setting up the fresh tablescape for the new year

To get started with this tablescape, you’ll need the following supplies.

  • Citrus is yellow and orange colors – These are from my garden but you can easily get fruit in these colors from your local grocery store
  • Iceland poppies – I used four for this tablescape but if you don’t have Iceland poppies you could use any other flowers in white and yellow to complement the fruit.
  • Mixed greens – Ferns and cedar work well
  • A couple of candlesticks
  • White plates
  • Blue and white plates
  • White napkins
  • White table runner
  • Tablemats for the place setting – This is from Pottery Barn
  • Glassware – Champagne/ wine and water glasses
  • Silverware

Start with the centerpiece by adding the tablerunner and placing the citrus and flowers in the center. I had to play around with the placement of the items until it looked pretty and you’ll probably have to as well.

Once you’ve set up the centerpiece add the place settings to the table. Add the glassware and the silverware to create a pretty setting similar to the one below.

Complete the tablescape and take a step back and look at it. Edit as needed to make sure the setting looks great from all angles. This is a versatile tablescape that can be created in any season to add some citrus fresh to your day!
