CREATE A PRETTY WILDFLOWER ARRANGEMENT

I stumbled upon a pleasant surprise in the woods in Kansas City! There are so many beautiful wildflowers hidden in the woods! I just had to create a pretty wildflower arrangement for my lovely sister-in-law. See my post on wildflower inspiration for your home garden to find out more about the many wonderful wildflowers we saw in the Midwest!

The Inspiration

I was so inspired by my walk in the woods! Not only was it calm and serene but the flowers were spectacular!

Pretty Wildflowers in Kansas City, MO

Colors

  • Green
  • White
  • Hints of yellow
  • Hints of gold

Observe the naturally occurring color combinations in the picture above, which are spectacular. It’s easy to use a similar color theme for the arrangement as the colors work so well together. You can create pretty arrangements by observing colors that occur naturally in nature too!

TIP: Observe naturally occurring color combinations to create pretty arrangements.

Flowers

I don’t know the exact names of these flowers as these were growing wild in the woods but I have provided names of flowers that are similar if you’d like to re-create the arrangement.

  • 3 stems Fleabane or White Aster – White flowers with yellow centers
  • 3 Bishops Flower or Queen Anne’s Lace – White lace-like flowers
  • A few golden blades of grass
  • Multiple Ferns

Vase and Supplies

  • Mason Jar with pre-configured grid lid
  • Floral preservative to make the flowers last longer.
  • Floral Scissors. I often use this one from Amazon.

A mason jar vase is perfect for this arrangement! Not only is it casual and pretty, but it also comes with a pre-configured grid that makes it much easier to arrange flowers. If you have mason jars, but don’t have the pre-configured grid, you can get one pretty easily. Wildflowers have a natural structure which makes the arrangement look casual and free-flowing.

I did not use floral preservatives or additives as it was only intended to last a few days. It lasted about three days in the vase.

TIP: Use a mason jar with a pre-configured grid to create the wildflower arrangement.

How to Create the Arrangement

Start with airy ferns to create the structure for the arrangement. Add the white flowers with yellow centers to the middle of the vase. Then add the lace-like white flowers. Tuck in some grasses and look at the arrangement from all sides. Fill in any gaps by adjusting the flowers a little or add a few more ferns or grasses. So simple!

My sister in law put the arrangement on her white farmhouse table and it looked great with her decor! There are so many places to display the arrangement. A coffee table, in an entryway or on a table are just a few.

Pretty Wildflower Arrangement

I hope you create a wildflower arrangement of your own. This was a special treat for me as I don’t get to see these types of wildflowers at home in Arizona. If you enjoyed reading this post, please share it, pin it or leave me a comment!
