HOW TO CREATE A BEAUTIFUL 4TH OF JULY TABLESCAPE!

This year we plan to be at home celebrating the 4th of July with a few close family members and friends. If you plan on doing the same, creating a tablescape might help make the day extra special. I looked around our home and found several red, white, and blue items. You probably have decor pieces that have the same colors. I’ve shared tips on how to create a beautiful 4th of July tablescape below.

Setting up the 4th of July tablescape

The best way to start setting up the tablescape is with linens. I used a blue and white table runner that I had at home. A similar one is available and can be used to anchor the table setting. The dark blue placemats enhance the tablescape but you could use placemats in blue, white, or red and mix the plates accordingly to create a the desired look.

The two lanterns anchor the table setting with a potted plant. I’ve had one of the lanterns for a while and plan to use it in many of my future posts! Re-use decor objects as much as possible to save space and money. While the exact same white lantern is not available at Pottery Barn there is a shutter mango wood lantern which is very pretty and an electric option so you don’t have to worry about lighting real candles. These versatile decor pieces can be used over and over again due to neutral coloring and beautiful shape.

My mother-in-law found the other lantern at a garage sale and I spray painted it red to achieve the look! It was black and tired-looking before. You can see how spray painting old decor items give it new life and help to create a new look! I found an almost identical set of lanterns which made me wonder why I spent time spray painting, but it was fun and cheaper! A potted plant in a blue planter completes the trio in the middle of the table. The plant is called Cuphea and has beautiful little white flowers. The flowers do tend to drop after a few days so be careful around food. Grouping items at the center of the table in three’s helps create interest and a focal point.

Add natural elements

I added natural elements by creating two smaller vases made of red roses mixed with white snapdragons and hints of greenery. The tablescape looks brighter with these two simple arrangements and easily complements the theme! I didn’t have white vases that were small enough for the flower arrangements, so I used two white mugs that were easily available in my kitchen!

Red and white plates look great together! I really like these white plates and we’ve used it everyday for several years. The red plates were a find from Target several years ago. You could use any combination of red, white or blue plates to create this look. If you don’t want to bother with cleaning up after dinner, disposable plates and napkins are a good option. It is pretty easy to find white paper or plastic plates.
