Our founding tea collection launches this spring. Two small-batch blends born in an Arizona cottage garden and formulated with care in Sri Lanka.

Our Founding Tea Collection Is Almost Here

The founding tea collection began as two cardboard boxes of bare-root cuttings.

Several years ago, Princess Alexandra of Kent and the Eden rose arrived and went into the ground in an Arizona cottage garden. A few seasons later, strawberry plants were tucked in among them, the way strawberries always seem to find their way into a garden, almost without being asked. There was no plan for a tea blend then. There was barely a plan for the roses. Just the quiet conviction that anything beautiful deserves to be tended with care.

The teas came later, and slowly. From what was growing, what was blooming and what the season kept offering up.

Garden Rose Tea began with a handful of petals dropped into a cup one afternoon, and the question of what would pair with it. A black Ceylon tea base and Cardamom found it’s way into the blend. Floral, warm, with a freshness you do not expect and a calm that lingers after the cup is empty.

Freshly Picked Strawberry Tea began with the strawberries. The same Ceylon base, sweet and bright, with a light caramel note and a medium-full body. It tastes exactly like its name. A splash of milk softens it into something close to dessert. It is just as beautiful poured over ice on a warm afternoon.

Both blends were crafted in this garden and formulated with care in Sri Lanka. The artwork on every canister was painted by Nilanee, my mother, a watercolour artist who has been painting the garden for as long as it has existed. The rose on one canister is Princess Alexandra of Kent, captured at the moment she opens. The other holds the strawberries, ripe on the vine.

This is how the founding tea collection arrived. Not from a strategy document. From a garden, over years, one bloom at a time.

The online shop opens very soon. The slow mornings. The roses with names. The hour that belongs to you. If this is a world you live in, or one you would like to, the door is about to open, and we would love for you to walk through first.
